In 2022 Matariki will be officially recognised as a public holiday on Friday 24 June.

Matariki Pēwhairangi Bay of Islands is packed with events to feed your mind, body, and soul! There is a full programme of Matariki events for everyone across Paihia, Kerikeri, Russell, and beyond.

You could be titiro whetu – stargazing on the beautiful waters in Te Pēwhairangi, discovering and tasting our delicious local produce, and listening to inspiring local kōrero paki – storytellers, all in one day.

All of the Matariki events run over 6 weeks in various locations around the Bay of Islands, Northland, New Zealand.

Come and be part of our special pakiwaitara – story, which has now become a public holiday on Friday 24th June, which also happens to be our magical main Matariki event, prepared to be wowed!
