MATARIKI Pēwhairangi BAY OF ISLANDS 2022
In 2022 Matariki will be officially recognised as a public holiday on Friday 24 June.
The Matariki Festival 2022 will run over several weeks from the 17th June – 31st July 2022.
Matariki Pēwhairangi Bay of Islands is packed with events to feed your mind, body, and soul! Story-telling, cultural experiences, Matariki-inspired feasts, artisan markets, vineyard tours, music, family fun, and some of the best star-gazing opportunities in the land. There is a full programme of Matariki events for everyone across Paihia, Kerikeri, Russell, and beyond.
You could be titiro whetu – stargazing on the beautiful waters in Te Pēwhairangi, discovering and tasting our delicious local produce, and listening to inspiring local kōrero paki – storytellers, all in one day.
All of the Matariki events run over 6 weeks in various locations around the Bay of Islands, Northland, New Zealand.
