If you’re planning to get to the Bay of Islands by plane or helicopter, the closest airport is at Kerikeri, 23 km northwest of Paihia.
Flights are a quick 40-minute journey from Auckland, making your journey to the stunning Bay of Islands quick and hassle-free.

InterCity run daily return services from Auckland via Whangarei to Paihia and Kerikeri. Please go to the Intercity website for details and bookings.
Where possible we will include bus and ferry services as an ‘add-on’ to your event ticket so you can book at the same time. Easy!
On major event days, shuttle services will operate from around the region.

Fullers Great Sights will run some special late-night passenger ferries between Paihia Wharf and Russell as required for events. These special services will be listed on the Event Info with booking links when available.
The Opua > Okiato vehicle ferry service operates as a shuttle, departing approximately every 10 minutes during the day, and every 20 minutes early morning and late evening. Opua is about 7 minutes drive from Paihia and Okiato is about 10 minutes drive from Russell. Tickets can be purchased onboard or at the Opua Store. EFTPOS is available onboard. The last vehicle ferry from Okiato is 9.50 pm.

You can park your car in the Pay and Display carpark on Williams Road. This carpark is only a few minutes walk along flat footpaths to the Maritime Building on the Paihia waterfront. You can also park on the streets in Paihia, just make sure there are no time restrictions in place.
