Matariki Pewhairangi Festival presents Matariki Housie!
Join the superstars of drag for a night of Matariki Housie at the Turner Centre, Kerikeri, this July! The sensational Kita Mean, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, the legendary Tess Tickle and Drag Wars winner, Rita Menu, present a glittering night of outrageous comedy, fierce performances, glitz, and cheeky surprises. And of course…Drag Queen Bingo! Matariki Housie is an epic, fun show designed just for the festival!
Come prepared for jaw-dropping comedy and pearl clutching stunts as our divas keep you laughing, singing, and gasping with their quick wit and fierce high energy performances. This isn’t your typical Drag Queen Bingo, this epic show gets a glamorous festival twist with unexpected surprises and performances along the way. Be warned, this show is interactive, colourful and loud!
There will be lots of prizes to be won and in the spirit of giving to others during the period of Puanga Matariki, each ticket includes a donation to a fabulous local charity, Bald Angels, who do extraordinary work with vulnerable Far North communities.

About the stars of Matariki Housie:
Tess Tickle is a true taonga of Aotearoa’s drag scene and a community icon. Hailing originally from the Far North, her 30-yr career has taken her around the world, before dumping her straight back in Tai Tokerau.
Kita Mean is an international superstar, having hosted the reality show, House of Drag, followed by winning the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under. She is also a long-time diva at the iconic Caluzzi Cabaret in Auckland.
Rita Menu describes herself as a curvy Maori queen from the metropolis Kirikiriroa (Hamilton). Best known for her fierce lip-syncing skills and as a fierce “dancing diva”. She made an international splash when she competed on season 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under and was the winner of the NZ reality series, Drag Wars
About the Event:
- Limited reserved tables of 8pax plus general admission seating
- Venue is set up with communal long tables, general admission – Bingo Loco style!
- It is a party atmosphere with moving lights, glowsticks, glitter, a DJ and interactive sections….you are not sitting in your seat all night playing bingo! Maybe don’t tell your nan…actuallly do tell her, she’ll love it!
- Not just bingo! There is Drag Queen musical interludes, lip-syncing, performances and interactive elements. This is a full show!
- Fully licensed with wine, bubbles, beers, spirits and soft drink options
- Food is platters and hot snacks – not full meals
- Where the Hell is my Husband? This doesn’t need to be a girls night…the boys will love it too!
- The fun starts promptly at 7pm, doors will open at 6.30pm so you can grab a drink and a seat. There is no interval, bar and food available all the time.
- The show is approximately 3hrs in duration. Our DJ will keep party going later for those who don’t get out much.
